Prehistoric Farm Tips and Tricks: Incubation and Care

Last updated 2026-10-06Unofficial player article

Arrange Prehistoric Farm digging trips around complete sets and incubation, and keep dinosaur growth active with timely care.

The useful efficiency question in Prehistoric Farm is which task is waiting on you. A completed fossil set needs the DNA Lab, an egg needs an available incubator, and a hungry dinosaur needs compatible food. Organize trips around those real conditions before looking for a shortcut.

This gameplay session alternates digging, hatching and fishing. It shows why returning home with a ready set can be more useful than continuing to dig without checking progress.

Return with a completed set in mind

Focus on the count for one creature when deciding whether another dig is useful. Cambrian eggs need five fossils of their creature. Five pieces spread across several creatures do not finish the same requirement. The recommendation is to check your collection before extending a trip, not to assume the next dig guarantees the missing piece.

Keep completed-set pieces available for Dr. Ivy. Selling something simply because the inventory is large can interfere with the egg you planned to obtain. Surplus handling after extraction is not established, so inspect the inventory again after using Get Egg.

Start an egg before taking another trip

Put an acquired egg in an unlocked incubator when capacity is available. Two slots start unlocked. You can then choose another collection or fishing activity while the displayed incubation timer runs. This is scheduling advice based on the separate tasks, not a claim that traveling accelerates the hatch.

Do not equate the short tutorial timer with every egg. Check the timer of the actual egg you placed before planning how long to stay away.

Check care before chasing another reward

A dinosaur grows while Belly is above half full. Food compatibility matters; feeding the wrong kind is not a substitute for checking the creature's diet. Keep a care stop in your routine, particularly before leaving home for another collection session.

When digging itself is the delay, practice the green-zone release. When the whole route is unfamiliar, return to the beginner guide. Change the task causing the delay instead of spending coins on an unrelated upgrade.
