Prehistoric Farm Shovel Guide: Period Access and Attributes
Compare Prehistoric Farm shovel period access, Fossil Luck and coin multipliers, and separate equipment choice from digging timing.
A shovel in Prehistoric Farm digs for fossils at marked Dig Sites. Choosing a shovel has two parts: whether it supports the fossil period you want and what its listed Fossil Luck and coin multiplier offer. The green-zone release remains a separate player action.
This gameplay session shows a player reaching Triassic but needing a Silver Shovel to dig there. Reaching an island and having the required digging tool are different checks.
Choose for the period you intend to dig
The Wooden Shovel supports Cambrian. Bronze adds Devonian, Silver adds Triassic, Iron adds Jurassic and Titanium adds Cretaceous. Later tools retain the earlier listed periods. Use that progression to choose equipment for a destination rather than buying on the name alone.
| Shovel | Fossil Luck | Coin multiplier | Latest listed period |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wooden | 1.00× | 1.00× | Cambrian |
| Bronze | 1.05× | 1.05× | Devonian |
| Silver | 1.10× | 1.10× | Triassic |
| Iron | 1.20× | 1.15× | Jurassic |
| Titanium | 1.40× | 1.30× | Cretaceous |
Keep shop costs separate from attributes
Digby's Shovels is the named shop. Bronze and Silver have conflicting recorded prices, so check the live offer before budgeting either purchase. The period and multiplier comparison does not resolve that price difference. Exact material sources are also not established here.
A listed Luck multiplier is not an exact fossil drop probability. Do not convert 1.40× into a promised rare-find percentage or a fixed number of digs. Use it as a comparative tool attribute.
Keep using the timing action
Hold at the Dig Site and release in green for a better find. An equipment upgrade changes the supported tool attributes, not that instruction. The digging timing guide covers the release action, while using a shovel focuses on equipping and digging.
For a first Cambrian set, the Wooden Shovel already has the required period access. For a later period, check the actual required tool at the site before treating the boat journey as a tool unlock.
